Donovan had his 2 week check up today. He measured 20 3/4 inches (3/4 inch growth and 85th percentile), weighed in at 8 lbs, 15 oz (a 7 oz gain in a week and 85th percentile), and the boy has a big head at the 91st percentile. He's finally getting days and nights figured out and average sleeping about 2-3 hours at a time, sometimes stretching it out to 4 or 5 hours. Yeah!
People always ask about Marley and how she is doing with the adjustment. I have to say, Adam and I are very happy with her transition. I went in to pick her up from daycare today with Donovan (1st time by myself!) and when the kids came over to see the baby, she held her hands up and said, "No touch Jay. Marley's baby." Very cute - she made my heart melt. She always says goodbye and good night to him without being prompted to do so and gives him lots of kisses. She's also become a very big helper around the house.
The other question we get is how is it now with 2 kids? We were flipping channels the other day and caught a quote from the movie, The Groomsmen. The gist of it is one guy asked another the same thing - why 2 kids? The father replied something to the effect of, "You have 1 kid, you lose a little of your life and convenience. You still get to do a few things on your own. You have 2 kids and you lose all of your life. But my life is going upstairs to say goodnight to those 2 kids. It wouldn't be my life any other way." That hit home with both of us. It feels nice to have the family "complete" in a sense. It is rewarding to watch them both grow and learn and love each other. It has been nice to be more relaxed with DJ this time and enjoy all of the little things that I stressed about so much with Marley. I can't believe how fast these 2 weeks have gone. I really wish time would slow down.
It is also amazing to see how Adam and I have evolved. We hit our 7-year anniversary milestone this past weekend (WOW!). I gave him a long hug to say Happy Anniversary that morning (big hugs are something we haven't been able to do in a long time due to the big belly!). While we were hugging, Marley was head butting Adam and throwing muffins at me, but we didn't mind at all. We just laughed at the moment and enjoyed every part. Crazy how things have changed.
